Common questions

How do I create a grocery list from my recipes?

Sign in, open Grocery Lists, and create a new list. Search and select the recipes you want for the week — GroceryLister pulls in their ingredients automatically. You can add extra items, adjust quantities, and save the list when you are ready to shop.

How does aisle sorting work?

Ingredients are grouped by aisle (produce, meat, dairy, freezer, and other) so your list follows a store-friendly order. Each ingredient has an aisle when you add it to a recipe or list. On a grocery list, items appear under aisle headers to make shopping faster.

How do I share a list for shopping?

Open a grocery list you own and tap Share for shopping. That turns on a 7-day link anyone can use to check items off. Send the link by text, email, or your phone's share sheet. Sharing again resets the 7-day window.

How do shared grocery lists work?

When a list owner shares a list for shopping, anyone with the link can check items off for 7 days. Sharing again resets that window. While online, guests see check-offs from other shoppers and their own updates sync to everyone on the link. They cannot add, edit, or remove items from the list, and they need an internet connection to use a shared list.

How do shared recipe links work?

Recipe links let anyone view a recipe without signing in. Unlike shared grocery lists, recipe links do not expire on a timer. Anyone with the link or recipe ID can view the recipe — there is no password. Viewing a recipe link requires an internet connection. Only share recipe links with people you trust, and avoid posting them publicly if you want to keep a recipe private.

The shared grocery list link expired — what now?

Shopping links stay active for 7 days after the owner last shared the list. After that, guests can no longer check items off. Ask the list owner to open the list and tap Share for shopping again to generate a fresh link.

Can I use GroceryLister without an account?

Yes, for viewing. You can open shared grocery list and recipe links without signing in. Creating, editing, and saving your own recipes and lists requires signing in with Google.

Does GroceryLister work offline?

Signed-in users can keep shopping when connectivity is spotty. Changes are saved on your device and sync to your account when you are back online. Shared list links for guests require an internet connection.

My changes are not syncing — what should I try?

Make sure you are signed in, then check your internet connection. If you were offline, open the app again when you are back online — pending changes should sync automatically. If a shared list still looks stale, refresh the page. For signed-in users, force-quitting and reopening the app can also help. If problems continue, email us with your account email and what you were trying to do.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Account from the header menu. At the bottom, under Danger zone, choose Delete account. Confirm in the dialog — you may need to sign in with Google again. This permanently removes your recipes, lists, and favorites.

You can also email support@grocerylisterapp.com from the address tied to your Google account if you cannot access the app.
