Privacy Policy

GroceryLister helps you manage recipes and grocery lists. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account information — When you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account, such as your name, email address, and user ID.
  • Content you create — Recipes, grocery lists, ingredients, check-off status, favorites, and other data you save in the app.
  • Device and local storage — When you are signed in, the app may store a copy of your recipes and lists in your browser or on your device so the app works offline and can sync when you reconnect.
  • Technical information — Our hosting and database providers may process standard service logs and security data needed to operate the app reliably.

We do not use dedicated third-party analytics or advertising trackers in the app today.

How we use information

  • Provide, sync, and back up your recipes and grocery lists across devices
  • Enable shared recipe and grocery list links that you choose to send
  • Queue and apply changes made while you are offline
  • Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service
  • Respond to support requests and account deletion requests

How sharing works

We do not sell your personal information.

Recipe links — If you share a recipe link, anyone with that URL can view the recipe. Recipe links are not time-limited. Viewing a recipe link requires an internet connection.

Important: Recipes in GroceryLister can be viewed by anyone who has the recipe link or recipe ID. Links are not protected by a password, and they do not expire automatically. Only share recipe links with people you trust, and avoid posting them publicly if you want to keep a recipe private.

Grocery list links — If a list owner shares a list for shopping, anyone with the link can view the list and check items off while the share window is active (currently 7 days, reset when the owner shares again). Guests cannot change list structure and need an internet connection to use a shared list.

You are responsible for who you send links to. Only share links with people you trust.

Service providers

GroceryLister uses Google Firebase and Google Cloud services for authentication, hosting, and database storage. Google processes data on our behalf according to its own policies. Learn more at Firebase Privacy and Security and Google Privacy Policy.

Delete your GroceryLister account

You can delete your GroceryLister account and the data tied to it at any time. This section explains how to request deletion and what happens to your information.

Delete in the app

  1. Open GroceryLister (web app or Android app) and sign in with Google.
  2. Open Account from the app menu.
  3. Under Danger zone, choose Delete account… and confirm.
  4. If asked, sign in with Google again to verify it is you. Your account and cloud data are then removed.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot use the app, email support@grocerylisterapp.com from the Google account you use with GroceryLister. Use the subject line GroceryLister account deletion request. We will verify the request and complete deletion within 30 days, usually sooner.

Data we delete

When your account is deleted, we delete or de-identify data linked to your account, including:

  • Your sign-in account association for GroceryLister
  • Profile information we stored from Google (name, email, profile photo URL)
  • Recipes you created
  • Grocery lists you created and their items
  • Your recipe favorites

Shared links you sent — Recipe and grocery list links you previously shared will stop working for others once your content is removed.

Data we may keep

  • Backups and service logs — Limited copies may remain in encrypted backups or logs for up to 90 days for security, troubleshooting, or legal compliance, then are deleted or de-identified.
  • Legal requirements — We may retain specific information longer only where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We keep your account data while your account is active so the service can function. After you delete your account, see Delete your GroceryLister account above for what is removed, what may be kept, and retention timeframes.

Your choices

  • You can stop using the service and sign out at any time.
  • You control whether and with whom you share recipe or grocery list links.
